What is Agniveer Scheme?

Under this scheme, a total of 46,000 Agniveers will be recruited this year. The Agneepath Scheme offers a unique opportunity for individuals to serve in the Armed Forces for a period of four years. Upon completion of this period, Agniveers will transition into society as disciplined, motivated, and skilled individuals, ready to pursue their chosen careers in various sectors.

The Agniveer scheme serves as a platform for the recruitment of more than 46,000 Agniveers across the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. Selected candidates will undergo a four-year training program conducted by the Armed Forces, equipping them with the necessary skills for their respective roles. The Indian Air Force and Indian Army have recently released comprehensive recruitment notifications for the Agniveer Army and Agniveer Airforce scheme on their respective official websites.

According to the Department of Military Affairs, the intake of ‘Agniveers’ is expected to increase to 1.25 lakhs in the future.

Minister of State for Defence, Ajay Bhatt, expressed his positive views on the Agnipath scheme, emphasizing the importance of not overlooking the opportunity and urging the youth to take advantage of it.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to reserve 10% of vacancies in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Assam Rifles for recruitment of Agniveers.

Incentives have been announced by the ministries of home affairs and defence to support the further employment of Agniveers. Public sector undertakings (PSUs) under the housing and petroleum ministries, as well as other sectors, are actively considering hiring Agniveers after their four-year service in the armed forces.

The upper age limit for Agniveers has been revised to 23 years.

A 10% reservation has been introduced for ‘Agniveers’ in central police forces, Assam Rifles, Coast Guard, defence civilian posts, and 16 defence Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). This includes major organizations such as Hindustan Aeronautics, Bharat Electronics, as well as shipyards and ordnance factories.

The training for the first batch of Agniveers is set to commence in December 2022, as stated by Army Chief General Manoj Pande.

The Ministry of Shipping has announced six attractive service opportunities for Agniveers from the Indian Navy, facilitating a smooth transition into the Merchant Navy.

Agniveer Scheme Objectives:

Agniveer Scheme Benefits:

Candidates within the age range of 17.5 years to 23 years (revised) are eligible to avail the benefits of the Agneepath Scheme for the Agniveer batch in the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Indian Navy.

Frequently Asked Question's

Agniveers will be inducted into the Indian Navy under the provisions of the Navy Act 1957, for a tenure of 4 years.

They will hold a unique rank within the Armed Forces, distinct from any of the existing ranks.

Upon completing four years of service, Agniveers will receive a one-time Seva Nidhi Package totaling Rs. 11.71 Lakh.

Additionally, 25% of Agniveer candidates will eventually transition into the regular cadre of the Armed Forces.

Only 25 percent of Agniveers will be granted permanent commission. The remaining personnel will be required to conclude their service after the four-year duration, receiving a lump-sum payment of approximately Rs. 12 lakh, along with associated privileges.

Candidates who have completed the 10+2/Intermediate examination but do not hold a Matriculation certificate, and have studied subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and English, are eligible.

Furthermore, those who have cleared the 10+2/Intermediate examination in any stream (Arts, Commerce, Science) with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks and at least 40% in each subject, can apply.

An additional condition is that the candidates should be at least 18 years old to be considered for higher qualification.
